Abergele Stroke Club – Proud Runners-Up at the Abergele Town Council Awards.
We are incredibly proud to share that Abergele Stroke Club has been named Runner-Up for Community Group of the Year at the Abergele Town Council Community Awards 2026.
This recognition means so much to us—not just as a group, but as a community of people who show up for one another every single week.
The awards, hosted by Abergele Town Council, were created to celebrate the individuals and groups who quietly make a difference behind the scenes—those whose kindness, dedication and compassion help shape a stronger, more connected community.
To be recognised among so many inspiring groups is truly an honour.
Who We Are
Abergele Stroke Club is a local charity dedicated to supporting stroke survivors and their carers through social, emotional and recreational activities.
But more than that—we are a place of understanding.
A place where people don’t have to explain themselves. A place where laughter, encouragement and shared experiences help rebuild confidence and connection after stroke.
Why This Matters
Recovering from a stroke is not just physical—it’s emotional, social, and deeply personal.
Many of our members come to us feeling isolated or unsure of their place in the world after life-changing events.
What they find is:
Friendship and belonging
A safe space to rebuild confidence
Gentle encouragement at their own pace
A community that truly understands
This award recognition shines a light on something we see every week: the quiet strength, resilience, and courage of our members.
A Community Effort
This achievement belongs to everyone involved in the club:
Our incredible members, who show up with bravery and honesty
Our volunteers, who give their time with kindness and dedication
Our supporters and local community, who continue to believe in what we do
You are the heartbeat of Abergele Stroke Club.
Looking Ahead
While we didn’t take home the top award, being named runner-up reminds us that what we do matters.
And we will continue to:
Create a welcoming and inclusive space
Support recovery beyond the clinical setting
Build meaningful connections that reduce isolation
Celebrate every small step forward
Thank You
To everyone who has supported us, nominated us, or simply cheered us on—thank you.
And to every member who walks through our doors: you are the reason we do what we do.
